In the 1950s, he
spearheaded and co-funded the precedent-setting legal challenge to the Board of
Education of Little Rock, Ark., beginning a grass-roots resistance to
racism that marked a milestone in the civil-rights movement of the 1950s
and '60s. Dr. Iggers was
also instrumental in the tearing down of the Berlin Wall. As a writer
and orator for both the past East and West Berlin his influence is a
part of what caused the wall to come down. Bro Dr. Iggers currently
resides in Goettingen, Germany and Buffalo, New York where he is a
member of the Theta Sigma Chapter;
spending half of the year at each residence. Bro. Iggers
always has pursued social justice with "true commitment... his
vision is practical, political and respectful of principle over ideology
and dogma, ethical and idealistic.
"Bro. Iggers' accomplishments as a historian, ethicist and
social activist will continue to color intellectual, cultural and
political lives far into the 21st century.
