Brother Jason Rodriguez
Military Medical Assistant

Bro. Rodriguez, a Navy Reservist Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class, has spent several months overseas providing medical attention to military soldiers. He arrived in Iraq in mid-March and had been stationed in Camp Korean Village for seven months. He is scheduled to return to the United States at the end of this month and is scheduled to be released from active duty in October.  Originally from the Bronx, Bro. Rodriguez provides continual assistance for Marines and also interviews current refugees and acquires needed medical supplies. Bro. Rodriguez studied at Hunter College before joining the Air Force in 1999. He moved to the Navy in 2004 and went to New York Institute of Technology after transferring to the Navy.

Bro. Rodriguez is the president of the “Thundering” Theta Gamma Chapter in New York and is looking to resume his term once he returns to the States. He currently is in the stages of finding connections to help in the aid of Sudanese refugees near his camp. To congratulate Bro. Rodriguez, e-mail him at bludevildoc@yahoo.com.

Advice to younger Brothers: 1) Stay hungry. Your blood is the fuel of this Fraternity. 2) Stop complaining about the things that are wrong with this Frat and be the one to help fix it. Join your grad chapters. Get the power you say is in “grad’s” hands.

Advice to older Brothers: 1) Yes, we grow up and have families, careers and personal lives, but stay true to the words you “so solemnly vowed and pledged” to uphold and be active in your chapter and your undergrad chapter. When you pledged, you had a million things going on and you made it, so what is the difference now? Suck it up and stop making excuses. 2) Some of you are legendary to your undergrad chapters, yet you are just that – some fable of a great Brother who once roamed the yard. Be that Sigma again. We all need your guidance, advice and, sometimes, that chewing when we mess up. Come back!
